Winter is coming…

How do you celebrate the arrival of Winter in your home? This year, we have been gifted with a “cold snap” of weather which is very timely for the first day of Winter tomorrow, reminding me that the season has changed.

I have found myself lighting the fire most days, lighting more candles, and replacing my Summer fragrances in the house with warmer Winter favourites. The rooms smell like cinnamon cookies and salted caramel, which is perhaps not great for my sweet cravings, but delicious none the less.

We have spent the last few Autumn weeks entertaining with friends with the last of our outside fire pit evenings with wine in hand a fabulous way to enjoy those crisp evenings. Being outside really brings on that feeling of seasonal change, and perhaps this year more than others I am reminded how each season comes with a new phase in our lives. Different routines, different ways of staying entertained, more time indoors reading and playing board games with family.

This year I feel inspired to embrace the cold weather by changing my house around ready to spend more time inside, balanced by grabbing a warm jacket and heading outside for regular walks and tending to the garden to ensure I still get that fresh air and feeling of cold that is so fresh. Nothing makes you feel more alive than feeling that cold breeze on your face and rushing indoors to stand by the fire to warm cold hands. I’m not sure about how you feel about Winter, but I think I am very much looking forward to it! Bring it on!
